Ouch, that sucks, I'm not based in the US and it does in fact activate my game.
Otherwise, its the exact same software and the added benefit is that if it ever gets corrupted it's easily fixable/re-obtainable through Steam any time. I'm not sorry because the fixes included and the G1000 cockpits added to the Cessna, Mooney and Baron 58 in the Steam Edition are great. Myself, I didn't know about Erazers info back then and I just broke down and bought it again from Steam. I feel ripped off because they have my $ and I have useless CD's. They were hard core about it, they flat refused me, in person on the phone. I got into a big fight with them years ago over their refusal (policy) to activate mine after a hard drive crash caused me to need to re-install.
